The thrill of spring is in the air
In the beautiful town of Franschhoek, it’s difficult NOT to be a fan of spring. Take a trip through our town and you’ll see:
• Our majestic canopy of Oak trees at the market start growing new lime green leaves to shade us from the summer heat we’ll experience in the next few months.
• The peach, plum and nectarine trees start to blossom, creating rows of gorgeous light pink to white displays across the farms. (This is really special for our market owner, Elsuna, since she grew up on a stone-fruit farm in Franschhoek.)
• Visitors coming to town, filling up our restaurants, streets and our market as the days warm.
• That feeling of a new adventure that awaits…

What better way to celebrate the new season than a day at the market this Saturday?
Get yourself, the family, kids and friends ready for our village market in the heart of Franschhoek. We’ll be open on Saturday from 10am – 3pm, with live music to entertain you.
Come celebrate spring with us, let your tastebuds sing with all the delicious foods and spoil yourself to original and creative art and craft. The Franschhoek Village Market will be a VIBRANT event, especially for you.
Shining the light on a strong woman we adore
If you haven't already, now is your chance to meet Alice Kuwirirana.
Alice is a hardworking organic fruit and vegetable farmer from Franschhoek. She has been selling her local, quality produce at the Franschhoek Village Market since 2015. Why did she become a businesswoman? For her love of fresh, healthy produce, to pay for her children's education and to support her mother.
Thanks to the Franschhoek Agricultural Estate home owners' association, Alice own a piece of land (including water for her garden) where she grows her organic fruit and vegetables such as corn, leeks, limes, while also farming with free-range chickens for their eggs.
Alice's advice to women: "Work hard and you'll be able to face any challenge while running your own business - all is possible!" Come support Alice at the market, her produce is the freshest you'll find!
