Celebrating our fearless Franschhoek Village Market women

Every year we celebrate Women’s Day, not only to commemorate the 1956 march when approximately 20,000 women made their way to the Union Buildings in Pretoria, but to applaud today’s fearless women for their strength and accomplishments.

Four of our wonderful traders had these words of wisdom to share with all the women in our market family:

We’re doing a happy dance – won’t you join us?

Amidst challenging times, we’re thankful that the Franschhoek Village Market is open once again – giving all our traders the platform to support their livelihoods, and to interact with new and local visitors (safely of course).

Our thanks to our market family (our traders and visitors alike) for helping to ensure a safe market is held every weekend. We appreciate your cooperation.

The market will be open this Saturday from 10am – 3pm. Prepare for a stunning day in the Cape Winelands.

A dynamic, female trading duo we adore!

If you've spent a day at the market, then you'd have seen these two smiling women, enjoying the market vibe with you.

Meet Sally & Barbara, the maestros behind The Well Seasoned Hen. This radiant duo have been part of the market family since 2012. They officially made the move to a scrumptious food stall in 2015 - and haven't looked back since.

As Franschhoek locals, they've been influenced by visitors to our town from around the world, taking inspiration from French cooking, Spanish treats and local classics. On their menu, you can expect delicious warm foods served in a tin plate or finger foods such as Chilli con Carne, Peri-peri Chicken, Croque Monsieur, Moreish Empanadas and their famous Tsostie Rolls.

These two catered for the world-renowned cycling race, the Cape Rouleur and the trail run, the Maxi Race earlier this year when the race ended at the Franschhoek Village Market.

Visit the market, meet The Well Seasoned Hen duo, order a plate of food and enjoy a relaxing day under the oak trees at the market while you wait for your fresh, tasty food. You'll want to come back for more!

“A definite must”

‘Strolled through the market and found some delightful items to purchase for friends and myself! Some wooden bowls from one gentleman and a custom modern giraffe canvas from another that I cannot wait to have mounted so I can hang. Food, music and lots of local crafts and food items to buy and bring home. A definite must.’
