Mum’s the best – and the market agrees

The perfect place to start your Mother’s Day weekend celebrations – at the Franschhoek Village Market

In our eyes, mums are simply the best. Bring all the mums, grandmothers and other mother figures in your life to our relaxing, local Saturday market. Spoil her with a glass of bubbly, while listening to live music. And take a stroll with her through the market to buy her something special.

There are so many options to choose from, such as linen clothing, handmade art, delicate jewellery or even an authentic leather handbag. Or simply enjoy a yummy treat while catching up on all the stories you have to share.

The market is open Saturday 8 May, to honour our mothers, with great Mother’s Day specials from our traders (which we’ll share closer to the weekend), from 9am – 3pm. We look forward to meeting the mum in your life!

Meet Joel Cawe... our #TraderTuesday feature!

As one of our permanent friendly faces, how could you miss him (or his stall) every Saturday at the Franschhoek Village Market?

Joel has such a talent, creating and selling handmade, hand-painted, South African-inspired ceramic grater plates. These nifty little plates grate a variety of produce such as garlic, ginger, lemon, orange, nutmeg, biscuits and cheese. You’ll also not want to miss his wine-bottle holders, ceramic cutlery and tea-bag plates. If you've been fortunate enough to walk past his stall, he most likely would've roped you in for a chat, to get to know you, and to tell you of his dream: to one day have many people selling his ceramic plates across the world.

Don't you just love his talents and passion? Well done, JC Ceramics!

We’re making the most of our warmer autumn Saturdays and will keep the market open from 9am – 3pm for the time being. But please do keep an eye on our Facebook & Instagram pages: we’ll soon move over to our winter trading times (10am – 3pm).

See you soon at the market where locals meet.

Warm regards,

The Franschhoek Village Market team
