When you love what you do

"When you love what you do, it just shows, and it also helps others to dream more." That's the motto our trader, André Benadie of OpenDoor lives by.

Rewind 6 years, to 2015. That's when André first gave wings to his entrepreneurial spirit, to live his dream. He created OpenDoor to prove to himself that he can reach his goals, and to encourage others to reach theirs.

Since creating OpenDoor, André has loved being part of the Franschhoek Village Market family, meeting people from around the world, with their variety of cultures, and sharing stories with each other. This has also made him cherish South Africa even more.

OpenDoor sells handmade wooden sunglasses, silicone rings for men and women, as well as wooden and steel rings. So if you're in the market for quality sunglasses that'll stand out, or are a big fan of strong, original jewellery - pop in every Saturday at the Franschhoek Village Market and come over to André's stall.

We’re elated to hear our President encourage everyone to spend time outdoors – and here at the Franschhoek Village Market, we couldn’t agree more. The recent travel bans have put a dampener on our tourism industry. So let’s rather make this festive season the best ‘staycation’ and support our hospitality industry during a difficult time. After all, we’ve got the best wine farms, restaurants, nature-experiences and markets in the world!

Please keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram pages for updates on market dates and times, especially if we move from lockdown level 1. We’re of course monitoring the situation closely, to ensure the safety of our whole market family.

We’re thrilled to be spending the holiday with you, our locals and dedicated visitors!

Warm regards,

Elsuna & Izanne, Franschhoek Village Market management team
