Our very own art walk, a festive Christmas Market and MORE 😄

Saluting the creatives and honouring their craft this November

To celebrate ART, CRAFT and DESIGN in our local community – this November we’re shining a light on the traders who use their hands, talent and ideas to craft the most amazing artwork. From designer leather apparel, intricate handmade sculptures, delicate jewellery – to original artwork that simply isn’t available elsewhere.

Join us at the Franschhoek Village Market this month for our “Art Walk” through the various creative and quality stalls. Meet artists such as Fernando Badiali, Victor Jansen and Mikaela from Miky Rose, hear their stories and be inspired by their talent.

Here’s a sneak peek of some of the artists you’ll meet on the Art Walk at the Franschhoek Village Market every Saturday:

Back due to popular demand, our annual CHRISTMAS MARKET!

We’re nearing the end of 2021, time for our annual FRANSCHHOEK VILLAGE CHRISTMAS MARKET. So save the date, 16 - 19 December. It’ll be a jam-packed 4-DAY festive market, right here in the heart of the Cape Winelands. Just to get you in the mood so long: Think Christmas jingles, quality gift and decoration ideas for the loved ones (or even yourself), and delicious holiday food and drinks to fill the belly and the heart. We’ll be open every day from Thursday to Sunday (16 - 19) December, 9am to 3pm, with a dedicated children’s area packed with fun activities for the kids. And of course, don’t forget the furry friends (on a leash). Looking forward to celebrating the festive season with you at the market!

It’s art month, the perfect time to meet Elvis

Elvis Potina is our featured trader – an artist who is truly making a name for himself. From the small town of Elliotdale in the Eastern Cape to Franschhoek, Elvis made the move to the Winelands to showcase his art and to live out his big dream. On completing his scholarship at Boland College, and under mentorship of Rodney George, Potina Ceramics was started in 2006. That's when Elvis created his smoke-firing pot and ceramic business, launching his entrepreneurial career in the art world. Elvis chose to trade at the Franschhoek Village Market as a platform for his quality, professional artwork, and to see how his brand could reach all corners of the world. Thanks to the market's wonderful visitors, from near and far, Elvis now receives orders from Iceland, Germany, France, Switzerland, Atlanta in the USA and the UK Thompson Gallery. We're so very proud of you, Elvis! And we love seeing you at the market every Saturday, being honoured for your hard work and talent.

We’re thankful to our market family (traders, staff, visitors and the Franschhoek community) for your ongoing support. Meeting you, chatting to you and sharing stories – that’s what our market is all about. And you simply make it fun for us to manage and arrange the market every week on the church grounds.

So thank you!
